Via a friends Facebook page I came across the following quote; They make mistakes as I do, but my love and grace covers their shortcomings. It got me thinking, particularly around the Church and another post of mine, God Cares. But my question for today is should Christians be more forgiving AND graceful?
While that may seem somewhat rhetorical (after all read Matthew 6:14 & 15 from the Amplified). It seems to go to lengths (as the Amplified does) to say what The Message puts so briefly: In prayer there is a connection between what God does and what you do. You can't get forgiveness from God, for instance, without also forgiving others. If you refuse to do your part, you cut yourself off from God's part.
It would seem we sometimes separate grace & forgiveness. We're willing and keen to be seen to forgive, but at times less forthcoming with the grace (we tend to not want to forget). Jumping back to the verses from Matthew (Matthew 6 can teach me so much if I let it), God doesn't limit my future because of my past ... do I limit people's influence and opportunity with me (and within the realms I control) because of their past?
