Last week I was at an internal organisation conference where I had opportunity to speak with a variety of people. They were from different parts of New Zealand and working in different roles so had different strengths and ideas.
What I was struck by is that it is so difficult to listen to some people because of their personality! I mean you're probably saying something interesting that will help me in what I'm doing but I just can't get over the person you are!
I was reflecting about this on Friday with someone and we both had a good laugh about how some people's personalities prevent us hearing the good they can contribute. We also had a laugh about how our personalities will repel others and put them in the position of not being able to listen to our contribution.
How do I start listening when you're personality is so distracting for me?
